Evaluation for Origins- Amber Mclernon
Within the origins unit my confidence has grown in numerous
aspects of the project. I have been able to work a lot more quickly and be less
meticulous about initial starting points leading up to developed pieces. My
confidence has also grown experimenting rather than planning things out first, I
am not used to this method of working but it has been a good challenge.
In this unit, I did not expect to learn the processes as
easily as I did which shocked me, initially looking at weave and knit I thought
that they would be very complicated rotations to do but in fact, they were the
easiest. The fast pace of working definitely took me by surprise; I think I was
a bit naïve to how much I would actually cover on the first unit alone.
It was essential to
motivate myself to work independently because of the little time during sessions,
which made it vital to stay in studios more than the allocated time. However, I
have enjoyed the fast pace as it has helped me to create some nice starting
points with samples which I could further develop at a later stage.
Attending the all the meetings hosted by the tutors helped
me to start the week off organised and well-informed about things. I feel like
some meetings were not as helpful as others were but never less, they helped me
to come in on a Monday and get stuck into the working pattern again.
