London Trip
London Trip
Over the course of the trip to London I had the opportunity to attend two studio visits and visit numerous exhibitions and galleries. This has heavily influenced my current sampling project inspiring me to produce work based on things I had been exposed to.
One thing that particularly inspired me was the Basquiat exhibition at the barbican , his painting style, what he was inspired by, especially the colours he used excited me- therefore leading me to base my colour palette around one of his paintings 'ishtar'. The colours really work well together and i think creating a collection based of these would make it unique.
Visiting Tate Britain allowed me to collect a vast amount of starting points to photograph and draw from. Drawing sculptures that caught my eye in different styles assisted me in development which helped to easily start the sampling unit. I especially liked the sculpture below of a oddly shaped man and woman sat on a bench, this made me think about people and their life journeys and brought multiple different questions up in my head that i could start the project on. This object was also my favourite thing to draw on the whole of the London trip, after researching different drawing styles i decided to do a more illustrative take on it which proved to work quite well.

The areas of London i visited encouraged me to see shapes differently, i feel like i am better at feeling motivated and excited about my surroundings now, as usually i would not be so alert with tiny details.
Studio visits were also a very vital part of trip to London, getting first hand experience of how the design world works and what i could be doing in only a few years was very intriguing and motivated me to keep trying to work as hard as i can.
